Reducing Talent Risk: Talent Review and Succession Proven Methodology Now Offered by Steinbrecher Group
By Susan Steinbrecher

Steinbrecher Group is excited to now offer Talent Review and Succession Planning in addition to our Executive Coaching, Team Development, Professional Training, and Professional Speaking services.

Our comprehensive approach builds upon the intellectual property and 18+ years of practical, field-tested methodology developed and honed by industry expert Doris Sims Spies – expanded with our own best-in-class processes, tools, and proprietary analytics, and 20+ years of leadership development expertise.

And it all stems from a decade’s-long professional relationship and a passing of the baton from one well-established and widely recognized industry leader, Doris Sims Spies/Talent Benchstrength Solutions, to another, Steinbrecher Group.

Talent Benchstrength Solutions (TBS)

Doris Sims Spies, TBS founder and international talent review and succession consultant, speaker and author, has traveled a path very similar to my own. In her early career, Doris rose through the corporate ranks from leading talent review and succession within the telecom industry, collectively overseeing 60,000 employees across 60 countries, to her Talent Management Director role at a leading healthcare industry giant, overseeing 10,000 employees.

Doris has authored/co-authored 4 top-selling books, all on the topic of talent management and succession planning; holds numerous industry-leading certifications; and is a recognized speaker in her field.

Since founding TBS in 2011, Doris has worked with hundreds of organizations of all sizes and types – public, private, not-for-profit, family-owned, governmental, and higher education – across North and South America, Asia, and Europe. Her goal: to assist experienced HR professionals as they plan, execute, communicate, and measure talent review and succession strategies and processes. In addition, under Doris’ stewardship and driven by the strength and proven results of her talent review and succession methodology, TBS became a recognized recertification provider to HRCI (HR Certification Institute) and SHRM (Society for Human Resource Management).

Our History

Doris and I first met through a mutual client company after I exited corporate management/HR to launch Steinbrecher Group, with my focus on building authentic, EQ-driven leadership primarily through executive coaching. Doris took note of our proprietary coaching methodology and EQ-driven technique and later reached out to me to coach both herself and another leader. Through Doris, this initial engagement expanded to my coaching nearly a dozen additional senior-level leaders across the U.S., and then later certifying Doris in my executive coaching methodology.

When Doris left the corporate world to launch and build TBS, it was easy to stay connected. We were aligned in our career paths, from corporate success to launching and growing our own successful businesses; in our visions to support business growth through strong leadership; and in our shared values of trust, mutual respect, integrity, collaboration, transparency, and open-mindedness.

I was honored when Doris reached out to pass the torch. Talent review and succession planning are a natural extension of the leadership support services Steinbrecher Group provides. Add to that, our shared values and proven methodologies – It was a natural fit.

The Goal

Under Steinbrecher Group, my goal for Talent Review and Succession is two-fold:

1. To help organizations reduce talent risk and increase talent ROI by developing and implementing succession strategies and talent review plans that proactively identify and develop internal successor candidates and high potentials for future leadership roles, and

2. To create value at the business level where HR leadership becomes a true business partner, enabled with more sophisticated tools, applications, and analytics that better align with the Executive/C-Suite in terms of supporting both the benefits and the need for proactive and engaged talent management.

What’s New

Building on a strong foundation in the intellectual property of Doris and TBS, we’ve made the following enhancements:

• Developed a comprehensive approach to updating all talent review and succession documents, materials, and tools;
• Created scalable applications on a macro level, including adding critical visuals and process mapping; and
• Added more quantifiable talent risk management measurements throughout the talent review/succession process.

In addition, we are planning to build an application that will include talent management data intelligence. This critical tool will provide HR leadership with the capability to instantly calculate and identify a ROI – dollars saved by the organization due to talent asset protection through our comprehensive Talent Review and Succession Planning process. It will be real numbers with real reports – all data-driven.

I’m excited to embark upon this new chapter in Steinbrecher Group’s expansion. I look forward to serving both our current and future clients as we partner to mitigate talent risk through well-established, widely recognized, and time-proven talent review and succession programs and processes.
